  1 year of iBRoad!

Our main achievements

One year has passed since the iBRoad kick-off meeting in Athens in July 2017 and we take this opportunity to look back at what has been achieved so far.

Following the exploration of the potential for the iBRoad concepts, the analysis of interesting approaches existing in Flanders (Belgium), Germany, France and Denmark, and the survey analysis conducted among more than 1500 potential users in Portugal, Bulgaria and Poland, the data mapping analysis which is about to be released induced the start of the development of the iBRoad tools which is currently in full progress.

All in all, the project is moving well towards demonstrating the concept of Individual Building Renovation Roadmaps for a decarbonised European building stock.

amending Directive 2010/31/EU on the energy performance of buildings and Directive 2012/27/EU on energy efficiency, which is reinforcing the need for the exploration of the individual Building Renovation Roadmaps, we are looking forward to the next promising year…..!

With the fresh publication of Directive 2018/844, amending Directive 2010/31/EU on the energy performance of buildings and Directive 2012/27/EU on energy efficiency, which is reinforcing the need for the exploration of the Individual Building Renovation Roadmaps, we are looking forward to the next promising year!

The iBRoad project video is coming

Why is deep energy renovation of buildings needed? What are the challenges homeowners face when considering renovating their building? Deep renovation in one go, or stepwise? How can the iBRoad Plan and Logbook help overcome the challenges? Can the iBRoad tools assist in getting finance for energy renovation? The upcoming iBRoad video will answer all these questions and explain, in an easy to understand way, the concept and vision behind iBRoad. The project video has been shot in Berlin and Athens, and includes interviews with some of the key experts from the iBRoad consortium.

iBRoad in the media

One year after the start of the project, iBRoad is already mentioned in many relevant national, European and international platforms. The European Energy Innovation Magazine, ecobuild.Brussels, the Portuguese magazine Edificios e Energia, the Italian network BYInnovation and the US-based Institute for Market Transformation are just some of the platforms presenting the innovative concept of Individual Building Renovation Roadmaps.

iBRoad is a project funded by the Horizon 2020 European programme, aimed at exploring, designing, developing and demonstrating the concept of individual Building Renovation Roadmaps. With the innovative approach proposed, the project aims to become a real driver for deep renovation. Representing an evolution of the Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and energy audit systems, building renovation roadmaps will serve as a tool outlining a customised renovation plan with a long-term horizon for deep step-by-step renovation of individual buildings (iBRoad-Plan), combined with a repository of building-related information (logbook, iBRoad-Log).
