iBRoad report: The iBRoad Concept in practice

Report on suggested elements, content and layout of the iBRoad tools

The Report “The iBRoad Concept in practice” elaborates on the envisaged concept and expected impacts of the Individual Building Renovation Roadmap, giving an overview of the possibilities of the relevant software itself, as well as of the added value contributed by potentially creating links with other services available on the market, and presenting the ones that are to be actually implemented and tested under the iBRoad project.

The idea is to empower the data structure developed in the logbook by connecting it with the stakeholders’ needs in order to provide personalised services that lead to deep renovation. Several functionalities are identified and described, targeting a wide range of stakeholders, i.e. public authorities, investors, energy auditors, utility companies, etc., but particularly the building owner, who is the main beneficiary of the available information.

iBRoad to be tested in Bulgaria, Poland and Portugal

The iBRoad tools, iBRoad-Log and iBRoad-Plan will be tested in three countries, namely Bulgaria, Poland and Portugal, in spring 2019.

Experienced energy auditors are getting prepared to receive a comprehensive training during a one-day physical meeting. They will receive a handbook that guides them through the audit and explains how the tools work. They will also be equipped with the iBRoad online Roadmap Assistant which enables them to issue the iBRoad-Plan document, as well as with the iBRoad-Log where they can store all building related data for their customers. Auditors will then visit real case-buildings, discuss with the building owners their individual renovation questions and develop a strategic customised roadmap with support of the iBRoad scheme and tools.

During the field test, auditors can receive support from a telephone hotline, especially operated for them.

After the auditors have tailored a renovation plan for the future of the buildings, they will explain this plan in a face-to-face meeting to the owners.

In the last phase of the field tests, auditors and building owners can give feedback about their experience and contentment with the iBRoad concept. This will feed into the further development and improvement of the iBRoad.

The audit supporting the iBRoad-Plan is offered free of charge to the participating building owners. If you are a house owner in one of the three pilot countries and eager to test the iBRoad tools to receive a customised renovation plan (iBRoad-Plan) for your home, contact us here. You may receive access to a personalised building logbook (the iBRoad-Log) holding your building data information and offering additional functions to the building owners.

iBRoad presence

In previous months, the iBRoad project was present at some very significant events. Indicatively:

The iBRoad concept and its tools were presented in detail at the Workshop on the Building Renovation Passport "il passaporto Energetico Europeo" on 3 November in Italy.

Also on 3 November, iBRoad was presented at the Passiexpo 2018 - The road to NZEB, which took place in Athens, with more than 25 international speakers and hundreds of visitors.

The iBRoad concept was presented and discussed with approximately 50 national delegates at a session of the Concerted Action EPBD plenary meeting on 11 November in London.

On 12 February, the iBRoad and Renovalue projects were presented in Athens, at the RICS event titled "Sustainable Buildings and Valuation - Building Renovation Passports".

iBRoad is a project funded by the Horizon 2020 European programme, aimed at exploring, designing, developing and demonstrating the concept of individual Building Renovation Roadmaps. With the innovative approach proposed, the project aims to become a real driver for deep renovation. Representing an evolution of the Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and energy audit systems, building renovation roadmaps will serve as a tool outlining a customised renovation plan with a long-term horizon for deep step-by-step renovation of individual buildings (iBRoad-Plan), combined with a repository of building-related information (logbook, iBRoad-Log).
