Why Do County Roundup???

County Roundup is a group of contests offered to 4-H members to allow them to qualify for the upcoming qualifying contests held at Big Time in D-9, the Southeast District 9 4-H Roundup held each spring. This event allows members to test and hone their skills in events and receive feedback to improve in their events. Roundup offers opportunities beyond the project and allows members to become more involved in the many wonderful opportunities that 4-H has to offer.

Big Time in D-9 also offers invitational events open to any member (3rd-12th grade). While these events are not offered at County Roundup, the Fort Bend County 4-H Program encourages youth to explore the many contests available.

For more information and to register for the Fort Bend 4-H County Roundup visit: https://agrilife.org/ftbend4h/beyond-the-project/round-up/

County One Day 4-H Event

The Fort Bend County 4-H Program held our county wide community service event (One Day 4-H) which is celebrated across the state and nation during National 4-H Week (October 4-10, 2020). The One Day 4-H event for this year was decorating lunch bags for Lunches of Love, which is a non-profit organization that helps others in Fort Bend County area communities end childhood hunger by providing free nutritious sack lunches on weekends and school holidays. This year’s event allowed 379 decorated bags to be collected and delivered to Lunches of Love.

Needville 4-H

October 10, 2020 was One Day 4-H for the Texas 4-H members. This program was created in 2009 as a way for all 4-H clubs to say “thank you” to their communities, counties and state for all the support they have provided to 4-H. 4-H members and adult volunteers help improve their communities by adopting a service project. Needville 4-H adopted the project of “Clean Main Street” in Needville. The 4-H group, parents, Mayor Andrew Bohac and Council Member Rick Sinclair met on Saturday, October 10, 2020 morning and cleaned sidewalks, pulled weeds and cleaned the windows of the businesses. Needville 4-H has been adopting this project for the past several years. Photos are or members and parents giving their time to help with the beautification of Needville's Main Street.
